Housekeeping turns dirty rooms back into sellable ones. The Housekeeping page is built around what to clean first.

Reading the page

Marking rooms

  1. Finished a room? Press Mark Clean — it becomes sellable immediately.
  2. Found a problem (stained carpet, broken lamp)? Mark it Maintenance or report a work order (next topic) so the front desk stops selling it.
  3. Only clean rooms carry a Mark Dirty button. Occupied rooms are not on this page at all — they show in the In-House tile and nowhere else. To correct an occupied room after an unexpected departure, open Room Management → that room and change the status there.

Rooms you cannot release

Marking a room Clean or Available puts it back on sale, so the system checks one thing first — but only for a room you had already taken out of service. If its status is Maintenance or Out of Order, does it still have an open work order?

  1. If it does, the release is refused and you are told to resolve the work order first — housekeeping cannot clean away a broken aircon.
  2. Resolving the work order (Maintenance topic) is the way out, and resolving offers to release the room in the same step.
  3. A room merely flagged maintenance with no work order behind it releases normally — nothing gets stuck.

Two actions skip your queue

Check-out sends a room to dirty, so it reaches you. But cancelling an in-house guest and undoing a check-in both set the room straight to available: it is sellable again with the last guest's mess still in it, and it never appears in Needs Cleaning — an available room is not listed on this page at all. When the front desk reverses a stay, set that room back to dirty yourself from Room Management.

Clean, then Release — what the difference is

Mark Clean already makes the room sellable; the reservation form treats clean and available the same. Release only moves the room from clean to available, which matters to this page's own Available tile and nothing else — the Dashboard and Room Rack count them together. Nobody is blocked from selling a room you left at clean.
